Our client, a dynamic player in the global supply chain, is seeking an experienced Lead Logistics Coordinator to join their fully remote operations team. This position is pivotal in managing and optimizing the movement of goods, ensuring timely and cost-effective transportation solutions for our diverse client base. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in freight forwarding, excellent organizational skills, and a proven ability to lead and mentor a team. You will be responsible for overseeing daily logistics operations, coordinating with carriers, managing documentation, and resolving any transportation-related issues, all from the convenience of your home office. Responsibilities: Oversee the end-to-end coordination of domestic and international shipments, including air, ocean, and ground freight. Lead and mentor a team of logistics coordinators, providing guidance on best practices, problem-solving, and customer service. Manage relationships with carriers, negotiate rates, and ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs). Prepare and process all necessary shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs declarations, and import/export permits. Track shipments in real-time, providing timely updates to clients and internal stakeholders regarding transit status and potential delays. Identify and resolve transportation-related issues, such as customs clearance problems, delivery discrepancies, or damaged goods. Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations, customs laws, and trade agreements. Utilize and optimize logistics management software (TMS, WMS) to improve operational efficiency and visibility. Analyze shipping data to identify cost-saving opportunities and areas for process improvement. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their unique shipping needs and providing tailored solutions. Assist in the training of new team members and contribute to the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs). Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and changes in regulations that may affect logistics operations. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics and freight forwarding, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or lead role. Proven experience managing various modes of transportation (air, ocean, LTL, FTL). In-depth knowledge of international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and documentation requirements. Proficiency in logistics management software (TMS, WMS) and general office software (Microsoft Office Suite). Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills. Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and carriers. Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote team environment. Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance. Experience with hazardous materials shipping is a plus.
