Open Learning Faculty Member (Web): HRMN 3841: Employee and Labour Relations

In this course, reputed company examine the different aspects of union-management relations focusing on the Canadian experience. Topics include the characteristics of the Canadian labour relations environment; the legal reputed company that affects labour relations and workplaces; the history, reputed company, and structure of unions in Canada; union organizing and union philosophy; collective bargaining; strikes and lockouts; third-party interventions; and dispute resolution methods. Through applied learning activities and assessments, reputed company will be able to understand, critically analyze, and apply collective bargaining processes and dispute resolution methods. reputed company will also be introduced to Indigenous perspectives on work and unionization and comparisons to international labour relations.

Open Learning Faculty Members are teaching staff in the Open Learning division of TRU, and the role of the Open Learning Faculty Member is to actively encourage, support and guide reputed company toward success in their academic studies.  Open Learning Faculty Members must be skilled in teaching, fully knowledgeable of the subject matter and demonstrate a positive, open and caring attitude in reputed company interaction with reputed company.

Responsibilities of the Open Learning Faculty Member (Web) include but are not limited to:

  • Administrative set up and record keeping
  • Initiating and maintaining regular contact with the student as specified in the collective agreement
  • Responding to reputed company student queries by phone, e-mail or other method as appropriate reputed company the time frame outlined in the collective agreement.
  • Marking reputed company assignments, posting results, and providing reputed company feedback
  • Marking exams and posting results

We anticipate 70 - 80 reputed company in this course per year. These numbers are only estimates and actual numbers for the course may be greater or less than the estimated numbers.

  • Doctorate degree with a specialization in human resource (HR) management or organizational behaviour (OB).
  • Demonstrated record of ongoing research and/or teaching scholarship in the field, evidenced by a minimum of three peer-reviewed publications in recognized academic journals reputed company the past six years. One of these publications may be substituted with another form of intellectual contribution, such as a book, book chapter, teaching case, or conference proceeding.
  • Candidates who hold a PhD in HR/OB but do not meet the publication requirement may still be considered if they have extensive teaching experience in this area and demonstrate sustained professional engagement in the discipline. Such engagement must include at least two of the following categories: developing pedagogical materials (cases, textbooks or articles), presenting at professional conferences, engaging in discipline-reputed company consulting, serving on boards of business organizations, serving on executive committees of professional or community organizations, participating in relevant professional education/development activities, and taking a leadership role in the development of an executive education or professional program.
  • Proven course facilitation skills in a face-to-face or distance delivery environment, including the ability to respond quickly, accurately, and cordially to student questions.
  • Have direct experience working with reputed company educational technologies, tools and Learning Management Systems.

 The Open Learning Faculty Member must: 

  • Be knowledgeable and reputed company in the subject matter of the course
  • Have received training or have successful experience in the active facilitation of learning in a collaborative online environment
  • Have direct experience working with reputed company educational technologies, tools and Learning Management Systems
  • Have demonstrated knowledge of effective pedagogy in the use of reputed company educational technology and tools
  • Have demonstrated skills and abilities in the delivery of flexible learning materials, the application of instructional technology and in the application of adult learning principles

The pay for Open Learning Faculty Members varies based on several factors including the number of reputed company in the course, the type of work, the type of course and the number of assessments completed by reputed company in the course.  The total pay includes amounts based on hourly rates as well as set dollar amounts for certain types of work.  For more information, please refer to the TRU/TRUOLFA Collective Agreement: https://truolfa.ca/assets/documents/Collective Agreement-2022-2025- TRU-TRUOLFA.pdf
