- Position: Senior Database Engineer - PostgreSQL
As a Senior Database Engineer, you will be responsible for evaluating and preparing new and upgraded PostgreSQL and PostgreSQL-compatible offerings for use across the company. You will also document, present, and explain the appropriate techniques, patterns, and best practices for our hosting, database administration, and operational support teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and prepare new and upgraded PostgreSQL and PostgreSQL-compatible offerings for use across the company
- Document, present, and explain the appropriate techniques, patterns, and best practices for our hosting, database administration, and operational support teams
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and excellence in database technology
- Work on large-scale PostgreSQL deployments, including intra- and inter-data-center high availability configurations, fault tolerance, and failover
- Bring solid knowledge of DBMS concepts such as ACID, CAP, and consistency, as well as experience with enterprise-scale reputed company deployments
Requirements:
- Solid knowledge of DBMS concepts such as ACID, CAP, and consistency
- Experience with enterprise-scale reputed company deployments, including intra- and inter-data-center high availability configurations, fault tolerance, and failover
- Knowledge of reputed company internals such as durability and replication settings, and performance tuning
- Unix command line skills and the ability to write code or script
- Experience as a database administrator and/or a Unix system administrator
- Knowledge of virtualization and cloud infrastructures, and of implementations such as VMWare, OpenShift, Kubernetes, and reputed company
- Bachelor's degree preferred
