About arenaflex – Pioneering Health Innovation from Anywhere

arenaflex is a leading, technology‑driven health organization that believes every person deserves accessible, affordable, and compassionate care. With a mission rooted in human‑centric values, arenaflex leverages cutting‑edge data science, artificial intelligence, and cloud‑scale infrastructure to transform how health information is collected, analyzed, and delivered. Our remote workforce spans the United States, and we empower professionals to make a tangible impact on millions of lives without ever leaving their home office. If you thrive in a collaborative, purpose‑driven environment where innovation meets empathy, arenaflex is the place to accelerate your career.

Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Data Scientist to join our remote analytics team. In this role, you will partner with cross‑functional engineers, product managers, and clinicians to design, develop, and operationalize advanced machine‑learning models that power arenaflex’s next‑generation health solutions. You will own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of data‑driven products—from data ingestion and feature engineering to model deployment and continuous performance monitoring—ensuring that our solutions are reliable, scalable, and ethically sound.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with agile product squads to translate business challenges into data‑science problems and define clear success metrics.
  • Design, prototype, and implement machine‑learning and deep‑learning algorithms (e.g., predictive modeling, natural language processing, computer vision) that address complex healthcare use cases such as risk stratification, medication adherence, and population health management.
  • Develop robust data pipelines using Python, SQL, and cloud services (GCP, AWS, Azure) to extract, clean, transform, and validate large‑scale structured and unstructured health datasets.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis, statistical testing, and feature‑selection techniques to uncover hidden patterns and drive model performance.
  • Lead the integration of models into production environments, including containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and CI/CD workflows, while ensuring compliance with healthcare data security standards (HIPAA, GDPR).
  • Monitor model drift, perform root‑cause analysis of anomalies, and implement automated retraining pipelines to maintain accuracy over time.
  • Document methodology, code, and results in clear, reproducible formats; mentor junior data scientists and provide technical guidance to broader engineering teams.
  • Stay abreast of emerging AI research, industry trends, and regulatory changes, and proactively propose innovative solutions that keep arenaflex at the forefront of health technology.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in machine learning, data mining, statistics, or applied mathematics, preferably within the healthcare or life‑science domain.
  • Proven track record of building and deploying production‑grade ML models, including experience with supervised learning, ensemble methods, and deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Strong programming proficiency in Python (pandas, scikit‑learn, NumPy) and/or R**, as well as solid SQL skills for data extraction and manipulation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in data wrangling, visualization (Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly), and exploratory analysis on large, heterogeneous datasets.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure) and big‑data tools (Spark, Hadoop, BigQuery) to process terabytes of health information.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders and influence decision‑making.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Background in healthcare analytics, clinical informatics, or public health research, with familiarity of electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Experience designing scalable ML pipelines that incorporate feature stores, model registries, and automated monitoring dashboards.
  • Knowledge of statistical modeling techniques such as survival analysis, Bayesian inference, or causal inference applied to health outcomes.
  • Prior involvement in open‑source AI projects or contributions to peer‑reviewed publications.
  • Leadership experience guiding multidisciplinary teams through complex data‑driven initiatives.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical mindset: Ability to dissect ambiguous problems, formulate hypotheses, and test them rigorously.
  • Technical depth: Mastery of ML libraries, data engineering tools, and software engineering best practices.
  • Collaboration: Comfortable working in remote, cross‑functional squads using agile ceremonies, version control (Git), and collaborative documentation (Confluence, Notion).
  • Ethical awareness: Understanding of bias mitigation, fairness, and privacy considerations in health AI.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a fast‑changing environment where priorities shift based on emerging health trends and regulatory updates.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

arenaflex invests heavily in the professional development of its remote talent. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will have access to:

  • Annual learning stipend for conferences, certifications, or advanced coursework (e.g., Coursera, edX, O'Reilly).
  • Mentorship programs pairing you with senior leaders in AI, product, and clinical research.
  • Opportunities to publish internal case studies, present at industry symposiums, and contribute to patent filings.
  • Clear promotion pathways—from Senior Data Scientist to Principal Scientist, AI Architect, or Director of Data Science—based on impact, leadership, and innovation.
  • Cross‑functional rotations that allow you to explore data engineering, product management, or health policy roles, broadening your expertise.

Work Environment & Culture at arenaflex

Our remote culture is built on trust, flexibility, and a shared sense of purpose. arenaflex encourages:

  • Flexible work hours that accommodate different time zones and personal commitments.
  • Regular virtual “coffee chats,” team‑building activities, and wellness challenges to foster community.

  • Transparent communication from leadership, with quarterly town halls and open Q&A sessions.
  • Access to state‑of‑the‑art collaboration tools (Slack, Microsoft Teams, Miro) that keep you connected to colleagues worldwide.

Compensation, Perks & Benefits

arenaflex offers a competitive compensation package that reflects your expertise and the value you bring to the organization. While exact figures vary by experience and location, the typical range for this role is $92,700 – $185,400 annually, complemented by performance‑based bonuses and equity incentives.

Additional benefits include:

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage (including prescription benefits for full‑time employees).
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) contributions and flexible spending accounts.
  • Wellness programs such as mental‑health resources, meditation subscriptions, and fitness reimbursements.
  • Paid time off, parental leave, and paid holidays to support work‑life balance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match up to 5% after one year of service.
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) with a 10% discount on company shares.
  • Tuition assistance and reimbursement for continued education.
  • Discounts on arenaflex pharmacy services and partner health products.
  • Access to a robust employee assistance program for you and your loved ones.
