Job Description

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Junior Civil OSP Design Specialist to join our growing Outside Plant (OSP) infrastructure team. This is an ideal role for a recent graduate looking to launch a career in civil engineering, telecommunications, or digital infrastructure. In this role, you will serve as a foundational member of our quality control team. You will learn to perform technical reviews and QC checks on Civil OSP design packages, ensuring they meet strict client and industry standards. As you develop your expertise, you will help our team maintain a high volume of deliverables by ensuring every design is accurate, compliant, and ready for construction.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Design Review & Learning: Under the mentorship of senior staff, perform initial Quality Control (QC) reviews of OSP design packages, including trenching, duct banks, and utility coordination. Standards Compliance: Learn and apply client-specific templates and technical documentation to various design projects. Regulatory Research: Assist in cross-referencing designs against local jurisdictional requirements (Municipal ROW, DOT) and national codes (NEC, NESC). Project Coordination: Support Project Managers in tracking design review cycles, maintaining comment logs, and ensuring submittal deadlines are met. Digital Tools: Utilize and update QC checklists and leverage digital project management tools (Smartsheet, Excel, and internal dashboards) to monitor workflow efficiency. Team Collaboration: Participate in internal meetings to learn how design intent aligns with real-world field conditions and construction requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Telecommunications, Geography/GIS, or a related Technology field. Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in AutoCAD, ArcGIS, or similar design/drafting software (classroom experience is acceptable). Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

Internship experience in civil drafting, telecommunications, or land development. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel or Smartsheet for data tracking. A "growth mindset" with the ability to work independently in a remote environment while staying highly responsive to a distributed team.
