Job Purpose The Associate Environmental Consultant will be responsible for leading and managing complex environmental and social projects across Africa, with a specific focus on Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) processes in Egypt. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate strong experience in ESIA methodologies, regulatory frameworks, international best practices, particularly those applicable to Egypt and broader North African contexts. The candidate should also have experience working with the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA). In this role, the Associate Environmental Consultant will oversee multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring the timely and high-quality delivery of all project deliverables. Key responsibilities include the coordination and preparation of ESIA reports, facilitation of public and stakeholder engagement processes, consultation with regulatory authorities, overseeing the translation of documents and overall project administration, management and client liaison. The role requires a proactive, solutions-driven individual with demonstrated experience in managing large-scale environmental and social projects, engaging effectively with diverse stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with both national and international standards (e.g., IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principals, World Bank Safeguards). Minimum Requirements & Responsibilities: Over 8 years experience within the mining, renewables and/or infrastructure sectors. B.Sc. (Hons) or Masters in Environmental or Natural Sciences or similar qualification. Must be able to manage large ESIA projects proactively, take responsibility for resource allocation, liaise with clients, specialists and authorities, manage quality assurance/client feedback and ensure they meet budgetary, quality, safety and timeframe targets while exceeding client expectations. Must have a sound knowledge of environmental legislation processes within Egypt Liaise with clients, regulators (including EEAA), and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. Oversee translation and localisation of key documents where necessary. Knowledge of project management (methodology, proposal/ report compilation, budget control, timely project completion, write-off presentation skills, etc.). Must develop and sustain client relationships, leading to repeat business. Lead the preparation and submission of winning proposal submissions. Must be able to travel within the Middle East and Africa. Understands multi-disciplinary issues of large complex projects. Must be able to complete and review reports. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Should have a valid driver’s license. Skills/ Attributes: Sound report writing skills. Excellent command / highly proficient in spoken and written English and Arabic. Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise work. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in stakeholder engagement techniques and public participation frameworks. Should be able to work well in a team and communicate confidently with others.
