As a member of the arenaflex family, you will join a collaborative ecosystem where curiosity is celebrated, diversity is embraced, and every voice contributes to shaping the future of technology. Whether you are building the next generation of high‑performance computing (HPC) frameworks, optimizing machine learning (ML) pipelines, or designing resilient cloud infrastructure, arenaflex provides the platform, resources, and support to turn bold ideas into reality.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of cutting‑edge HPC and ML solutions on the arenaflex Cloud Platform. This role sits at the intersection of systems engineering, performance optimization, and product innovation, offering you the opportunity to influence the architecture of large‑scale distributed applications that serve customers across more than 200 countries.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned technologist with a deep understanding of low‑level system programming, high‑throughput networking, and the intricacies of cloud‑native environments. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams—including product managers, research scientists, and infrastructure engineers—to translate ambitious product visions into robust, production‑grade software that scales to petabytes of data and thousands of concurrent users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full‑Stack Development: Architect, implement, and maintain end‑to‑end HPC and ML workloads on the arenaflex Cloud Platform, covering kernel‑level drivers, user‑space communication libraries (e.g., MPI, libfabric, NCCL), and client‑facing applications.
  • Performance Engineering: Conduct deep performance analysis, identify bottlenecks, and apply advanced optimization techniques to achieve sub‑microsecond latency and high throughput across heterogeneous hardware.
  • System Design & Integration: Design scalable, fault‑tolerant system components that seamlessly integrate with existing arenaflex services such as storage, security, and AI platforms.
  • Technical Leadership: Mentor a team of senior engineers, set technical direction, define coding standards, and champion best practices for testing, code review, and continuous integration.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Partner with product owners to translate business requirements into technical specifications, and communicate progress, risks, and trade‑offs to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Research & Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies in HPC, ML, networking, and cloud computing; prototype novel solutions and contribute to arenaflex’s intellectual property portfolio.
  • Reliability & Security: Ensure that all software adheres to arenaflex’s security policies, incorporates robust error handling, and meets stringent reliability targets for production deployments.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Produce clear technical documentation, design diagrams, and internal tutorials to disseminate knowledge across the organization.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field (Master’s or PhD preferred).
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in systems programming, with a focus on performance‑critical software.
  • Demonstrated expertise in C++ development, including modern C++ standards (C++11/14/17).
  • Hands‑on experience with Linux kernel drivers, device I/O, and Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) technologies.
  • Proficiency in developing and optimizing high‑performance networking stacks and communication libraries such as MPI, libfabric, or NCCL.
  • Solid understanding of cloud computing concepts, including virtualization, containerization, and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Track record of delivering production‑grade software that operates at scale, with a focus on reliability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities, with a data‑driven approach to debugging and performance tuning.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with GPU programming (CUDA, OpenCL) and deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Background in high‑performance computing clusters, including familiarity with job schedulers (Slurm, PBS) and resource managers.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems design patterns, such as consensus algorithms, fault tolerance, and data replication.
  • Contributions to open‑source projects or publications in top‑tier conferences/journals.
  • Exposure to security engineering practices, including secure coding, threat modeling, and compliance standards.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to dissect complex systems, model performance characteristics, and devise innovative solutions.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Proven capability to guide senior engineers, foster a culture of continuous learning, and influence technical direction.
  • Collaboration: Comfortable working in cross‑functional, globally distributed teams, respecting diverse perspectives.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a fast‑moving environment where priorities shift and new challenges emerge regularly.
  • Customer Focus: Commitment to delivering value to arenaflex’s enterprise customers by building reliable, high‑impact solutions.
  • Innovation Drive: Passion for exploring emerging technologies and translating research breakthroughs into practical products.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

At arenaflex, your career trajectory is limited only by your ambition. As a Senior Staff Engineer, you will have access to:

  • Strategic involvement in shaping the roadmap of arenaflex Cloud’s HPC and ML offerings.
  • Opportunities to lead large‑scale, high‑visibility projects that influence millions of users worldwide.
  • Mentorship from industry pioneers and participation in internal tech talks, hackathons, and research symposiums.
  • Funding for continued education, certifications, and attendance at premier conferences such as SC, OSDI, and NeurIPS.
  • Pathways to transition into senior leadership roles, principal engineering positions, or product management tracks.
