About arenaflex

arenaflex is a global technology leader that builds the infrastructure powering billions of users worldwide. From search and digital assistants to cloud‑based AI platforms, arenaflex’s products handle data at massive scale and drive innovation across every industry. Our mission is to enable the world’s most ambitious enterprises to solve their toughest problems with secure, reliable, and intelligent computing solutions. As a remote‑first organization, arenaflex embraces flexibility, diversity, and a culture of continuous learning, allowing top talent to thrive from any location.

Why This Role Matters

In today’s data‑driven economy, high‑performance computing (HPC) and machine learning (ML) workloads are the engines of transformation. At arenaflex, we are building the next generation of cloud‑native HPC and ML services that empower researchers, developers, and enterprises to run complex simulations, train massive models, and deliver real‑time analytics at unprecedented speed. As a Senior Staff Software Engineer, you will be at the forefront of this effort, shaping the architecture, performance, and reliability of arenaflex Cloud’s flagship HPC/ML platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize full‑stack HPC and ML solutions on arenaflex Cloud, including compute orchestration, networking, storage, and user‑space communication libraries (e.g., MPI, libfabric, NCCL).
  • Lead the implementation of high‑throughput data pipelines, ensuring low‑latency communication between distributed nodes and seamless integration with existing arenaflex services.
  • Collaborate with product managers, research scientists, and cross‑functional engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical designs.
  • Drive performance tuning across the software stack—kernel, drivers, runtime, and application layers—to achieve industry‑leading benchmarks.
  • Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and champion best practices for testing, documentation, and continuous integration.
  • Define and enforce architectural standards, security guidelines, and reliability targets for large‑scale distributed systems.
  • Participate in the full software lifecycle: from prototype and proof‑of‑concept to production deployment, monitoring, and iterative improvement.
  • Represent arenaflex at industry conferences, publish technical papers, and contribute to open‑source projects that align with our strategic roadmap.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience, with at least 3 years focused on system‑level programming, performance engineering, or distributed computing.
  • Proven track record of designing, building, and deploying large‑scale, high‑performance systems in production environments.
  • Deep understanding of operating system concepts, networking stacks, and storage subsystems, particularly within Linux environments.
  • Hands‑on experience with C++ (C++11/14/17) and low‑level programming, including device drivers and kernel modules.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects, manage timelines, and communicate technical decisions to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA), InfiniBand, or other high‑speed interconnect technologies.
  • Familiarity with HPC communication libraries such as MPI, OpenMPI, or MPICH, and with ML communication frameworks like NCCL.
  • Background in cloud platforms (arenaflex Cloud, AWS, Azure) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Knowledge of performance profiling tools (perf, VTune, Nsight) and techniques for latency reduction and throughput maximization.
  • Contributions to open‑source projects or publications in top‑tier conferences/journals related to distributed systems, HPC, or AI.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Excellence: Mastery of C/C++ programming, systems architecture, and performance optimization.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to dissect complex problems, devise innovative solutions, and iterate rapidly.
  • Collaboration: Strong communication skills, comfortable working with global, cross‑functional teams.
  • Leadership: Experience guiding technical direction, mentoring peers, and influencing product strategy.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a fast‑moving environment where priorities shift and new challenges emerge daily.
  • Customer Focus: Understanding of how engineering decisions impact end‑users and business outcomes.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

arenaflex invests heavily in the professional development of its engineers. In this role, you will have access to:

  • Mentorship from senior architects and industry thought leaders.
  • Sponsored attendance at premier conferences such as SC, Supercomputing, and NeurIPS.

  • Opportunities to transition into senior leadership, principal engineering, or product management tracks based on your interests.
  • Cross‑team rotations that broaden exposure to AI, data analytics, security, and edge computing.
