About arenaflex and the Opportunity

arenaflex is at the forefront of transforming how data shapes decision-making across the healthcare and retail landscape. As an industry innovator with a deep commitment to improving lives through intelligent technology, arenaflex combines a rich legacy of community-focused service with a forward-thinking approach to data science, machine learning, and predictive analytics. Our organization is powered by a global team of technologists, analysts, strategists, and healthcare professionals who collaborate to turn complex datasets into meaningful, real-world outcomes. The work we do directly influences how millions of customers access care, how pharmacies optimize operations, and how leaders make decisions that affect entire communities.

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and intellectually curious Senior Data Scientist to join our remote analytics team. This role goes far beyond traditional data entry or routine reporting — it is a strategic position focused on building advanced predictive models, designing machine learning architectures, and driving analytical excellence across the enterprise. If you are passionate about deploying sophisticated algorithms in production environments, translating business challenges into mathematical solutions, and influencing executive-level strategy, this is the opportunity you have been waiting for at arenaflex.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Data Scientist at arenaflex, you will own the end-to-end lifecycle of advanced analytics projects — from ideation and exploration through model deployment and ongoing optimization. Your work will shape the future of healthcare intelligence, retail analytics, and customer experience strategy. Core responsibilities include:

  • Model Development & Innovation: Build, validate, and deploy predictive models, recommendation engines, and optimization algorithms using state-of-the-art techniques in machine learning, statistical modeling, probability theory, and decision science. Continuously explore emerging methodologies and adapt them to arenaflex's evolving data ecosystem.
  • Advanced Statistical Analysis: Apply rigorous analytical methods to massive, high-dimensional datasets. Leverage techniques such as regression analysis, time-series forecasting, customer segmentation, profiling, survey design, Bayesian inference, survival analysis, and anomaly detection to extract actionable insights.
  • Algorithmic Engineering: Design and implement algorithms including decision trees, gradient boosting methods (XGBoost, LightGBM), K-means clustering, hierarchical clustering, support vector machines, association rule mining, and dimensionality reduction techniques such as PCA. Incorporate interpretable ML frameworks and fairness-aware modeling practices.
  • Programming & Technical Stack: Write production-grade code primarily in Python, with additional proficiency in PySpark, SQL, and visualization libraries such as Matplotlib, Seaborn, and Plotly. Work with deep learning frameworks including TensorFlow and PyTorch to develop neural network architectures where appropriate.
  • Cloud & Data Infrastructure: Utilize cloud-native services on Azure, including Azure Machine Learning, Databricks, and Azure Data Factory. Query and manage large-scale data warehouses using Snowflake. Build and maintain robust data pipelines that support both batch and real-time analytics workloads.
  • Software Engineering Best Practices: Employ version control with GitHub, implement continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, and operate within agile sprint cycles. Contribute to peer code reviews, documentation, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with finance teams, clinical researchers, software engineers, product managers, and senior business leaders to define analytical requirements, identify high-impact use cases, and deliver insights that shape strategic direction.
  • Executive Communication: Translate highly technical findings into clear, compelling narratives for non-technical audiences, including C-suite executives. Create dashboards, presentations, and written reports that inform decision-making and drive measurable business outcomes.
  • Experimentation & Causal Inference: Design, execute, and analyze A/B tests and other controlled experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, product features, and operational changes.
  • Mentorship & Leadership: Provide direct and indirect leadership to junior data scientists and analysts. Foster a culture of curiosity, rigor, and continuous learning within the analytics organization at arenaflex.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role at arenaflex, candidates must bring a strong blend of academic preparation, hands-on technical experience, and demonstrated business impact. Required qualifications include:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or technical field (such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Data Science, or a related STEM discipline) plus a minimum of four years of professional experience in data science, machine learning, or quantitative analytics OR a High School diploma/GED with a minimum of seven years of equivalent professional experience.
  • A Master's degree (M.S.) in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a closely related STEM field.
  • At least four years of experience working with large-scale, complex datasets to design, train, and optimize machine learning, predictive, forecasting, and/or optimization models.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, PySpark, and at least one additional programming or scripting language.
  • Deep expertise in exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, feature selection, pattern detection, distribution analysis, and the visualization of analytical results.
  • Hands-on experience building classifiers and decision trees, and applying supervised learning methods such as linear regression, logistic regression, time-series modeling, generalized linear models, and support vector machines.
  • Working knowledge of unsupervised learning techniques, including K-means clustering, hierarchical clustering, association rule mining, and principal component analysis.
  • Experience with cloud-based machine learning platforms, distributed computing frameworks, data pipeline orchestration tools, and cloud data warehouses.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and analyze A/B experiments and other causal inference studies.
  • Excellent communication skills, with proven success translating complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Experience thriving in dynamic, fast-paced environments with ambiguity, competing priorities, and evolving business needs.
  • At least two years of experience contributing to financial or strategic decisions within an organization.
  • At least two years of leadership experience, including direct reports, indirect influence, or cross-functional team management.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes, both domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates who stand out will bring additional depth, specialization, and a track record of innovation. Preferred qualifications include:

  • A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related STEM discipline.
