Whether you’re joining from a home office in Texas, Massachusetts, or anywhere else in the United States, you’ll become part of a diverse, high‑performing team that values each member’s unique perspective.

Why This Role Matters

As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will be at the heart of our Federal Market Data Science initiatives. You’ll design, implement, and maintain production‑grade data pipelines that feed machine‑learning models used by government agencies and commercial partners. Your work will directly influence the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of data‑driven solutions that support critical public‑sector missions.

Key Responsibilities

  • End‑to‑End Pipeline Development: Architect, build, and operate robust data pipelines that ingest, transform, and deliver data for both training and production environments.
  • Technology Integration: Lead the adoption of modern data‑engineering tools (e.g., Cloudera, Docker, Apache Spark, Hadoop) to enhance the Federal Market Data Science stack.
  • Collaboration with Core IT: Partner closely with arenaflex’s Core IT team to ensure seamless integration of data services, security compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Best‑Practice Enforcement: Review, document, and enforce data‑engineering best practices aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitoring & Support: Implement comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and incident‑response processes to guarantee pipeline reliability and uptime.
  • Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing: Coach junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and foster a culture of continuous learning within the data‑engineering team.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Translate technical concepts into clear business value for non‑technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project goals.

Essential Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship and legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional data‑engineering experience in an enterprise environment.
  • At least 3 years of hands‑on experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines in production.
  • Proficiency with data‑warehousing technologies, relational databases, JSON, Apache Hive, Spark, Hadoop, or comparable ecosystems.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with a track record of writing clean, efficient, and well‑documented code.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Direct experience working with U.S. Federal agencies or on federally funded projects.
  • Hands‑on expertise with the Cloudera platform, Docker containers, and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Experience implementing data‑governance, security, and compliance frameworks (e.g., FedRAMP, NIST).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage complex, multi‑phase projects.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to dissect complex data problems and devise elegant, scalable solutions.
  • Communication: Clear, concise articulation of technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Collaboration: Strong team player who thrives in a distributed, remote‑first environment.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating fast‑changing priorities and emerging technologies.
  • Problem‑Solving: Proactive approach to identifying bottlenecks, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing performance.
