Our mission is to create vibrant, resilient communities where every transaction adds value to the people we serve. Why This Role Matters

As a Senior General Ledger (GL) Bookkeeper at arenaflex, you will be a cornerstone of our finance team, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial data that drives strategic decisions across the company. Your work will directly influence the reliability of our monthly close, the quality of our financial reporting, and the effectiveness of internal controls. In a fully remote setting, you will partner with cross‑functional teams—including FP&A, compliance, and operations—to translate complex transactions into clear, actionable insights that support arenaflex’s rapid growth and long‑term profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the month‑end close process for assigned business units, preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.
  • Maintain and update the general ledger in accordance with US GAAP and internal policies, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Collaborate with senior finance leadership to develop and refine accounting policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Prepare detailed financial statements and supporting schedules for internal and external audits, acting as the primary point of contact for auditors.
  • Partner with FP&A and operational teams to resolve accounting discrepancies, answer inquiries, and provide financial insights.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and ad‑hoc financial analyses.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process inefficiencies, recommending automation opportunities, and implementing streamlined workflows.
  • Support the development and maintenance of internal controls, ensuring compliance with SOX and other regulatory requirements.
  • Mentor junior bookkeeping staff, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Stay current on emerging accounting standards, industry trends, and best practices to proactively advise the finance team.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant bookkeeping experience with a focus on general ledger accounting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in US GAAP and a solid understanding of internal control frameworks such as SOX.
  • Proficiency with cloud‑based ERP systems; experience with arenaflex (formerly NetSuite), arenaflex (formerly Coupa), and arenaflex (formerly GSuite) is highly desirable.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and complex formula creation.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to dive deep into data, identify root causes, and propose actionable solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to convey technical accounting concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment.
  • High degree of integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering high‑quality work under tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • CPA certification or progress toward certification.
  • Experience working in a high‑growth, technology‑focused company or startup environment.
  • Familiarity with financial planning and analysis (FP&A) processes and tools.
  • Knowledge of regulatory bodies such as arenaflex (formerly PCAOB) and the ability to navigate audit requirements.
  • Exposure to multi‑entity consolidations and intercompany accounting.
  • Project management experience, especially in leading process‑improvement initiatives.
  • Comfort with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to present financial insights.

Core Competencies & Attributes

  • Problem‑Solver: Ability to think critically, anticipate challenges, and develop innovative solutions.
  • Collaborative Team Player: Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships across finance, operations, and technology teams.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a fast‑changing environment, quickly adjusting priorities as business needs evolve.
  • Ownership Mentality: “Make it happen” attitude, taking responsibility for outcomes and driving projects to completion.
  • Detail‑Oriented: Commitment to precision, ensuring every transaction is recorded accurately and reconciled fully.
  • Time Management: Ability to juggle multiple deadlines, prioritize tasks, and deliver results on schedule.
