The Senior Consulting Engineer is responsible for leading functional safety consulting engagements, delivering high-quality technical assessments, and guiding clients through compliance with international safety standards. The role also supports business growth through client engagement, proposal development, and identification of new opportunities, while ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard. What you'll do:

  • Independently conduct on and off-site evaluation to customer specific requirements.
  • Research and determine applicability of Functional Safety standards.
  • Perform technical assessments, analysis of specifications of projects, design reviews of projects, identifying compliance gaps and assist with implementing necessary solutions.
  • Coordinate and lead client meetings/discussions.
  • Provide sales support for any and all scoping requirements including direct customer presentations.

Supply information for quotes such as length of project, resources and samples required, and standards that will be used.

  • Provide specialized expertise in Functional Safety across various product types, including Machinery, Robotics and Energy Storage.
  • Conduct Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment, Fault Tree Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis.
  • Assist customers with Functional Safety process and documentation development.
  • Identify project needs and sample requirements for effective resource planning and meeting of client's expectations.
  • Provide the necessary support during the duration of projects to ensure the needs of the customer are met.
  • Perform other work as required.

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, Electronic, Control Systems Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in functional safety, machinery safety, or safety-related control systems
  • Demonstrable experience applying functional safety standards such as IEC 61508, ISO 13849, ISO 26262, or similar experience performing hazard and risk assessments (e.g. ISO 12100, HAZOP, FMEA, FTA)
  • Strong understanding of safety lifecycle concepts and safety function implementation
  • Experience conducting technical assessments, design reviews, and compliance gap analysis
  • Ability to lead client engagements, workshops, and technical discussions
  • Strong written / verbal communication skills, including report writing and customer presentations
  • This is a remote position; however, applicants must reside in and be able to legally work in the United States.

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Professional certification in functional safety (e.g. TÜV Functional Safety Engineer/Professional, CFSP/CFSE or equivalent)
  • Experience across multiple industries (e.g. machinery, robotics, energy storage, process industry)
  • Familiarity with tools such as SISTEMA, FMEDA techniques, and reliability analysis methods
