[Remote] Public Relations Account Executive

Chatham Strategies is a strategic communications consultancy focused on helping organizations and executives shape perception and build credibility. They are seeking a Public Relations Account Executive to support a portfolio of corporate, nonprofit, and political clients by executing strategic communications initiatives and managing media relations.
Responsibilities
- Research, compile, and send daily media monitoring reports capturing company and industry news of the day
- Support development and execution of integrated communications strategies
- Draft and refine press releases, executive bylines, media pitches, social media, award and speaking submissions, and thought leadership content
- Build and maintain targeted media lists across business, trade, and top-tier outlets
- Conduct proactive media pitching and follow-ups in collaboration with senior team members
- Monitor news cycles and identify timely opportunities for client commentary
- Prepare executive briefing materials for interviews, panels, and speaking engagements
- Track, analyze, and report on media coverage and campaign performance
- Maintain and update media databases using tools such as Cision
- Support rapid-response communications and reputational issues as needed
- Contribute to internal and client-facing strategy documents and reports
Skills
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, or agency roles
- Strong writing and editing skills, particularly in business and professional tone
- Familiarity with corporate PR functions such as executive visibility, crisis comms, and stakeholder messaging
- Demonstrated media relations experience, ideally with business or trade press
- Ability to synthesize complex topics into clear, compelling narratives
- Highly organized with strong time management skills and ability to juggle multiple priorities
- Comfortability working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Proficiency in PR tools such as Cision, Google Workspace tools, Slack, and AI tools
- Availability during standard weekday business hours (9–6 ET preferred)
- Intellectually curious
- Highly organized with an ability to meet deadlines, and transparently communicate questions
- Strong strategic instincts
- Polished communicator with confidence interacting with senior stakeholders
- Self-starter who can operate independently in a remote environment
