The School of Music consists of five departments: Instrumental; Keyboard; Music Education/Therapy; Theory, Composition and Musicology; and Vocal Studies. These departments function as semi-autonomous units with department chairs serving as unit administrators for their respective department. Department Chairs shall be selected and evaluated in accordance with established University policies and procedures. It is essential that the person selected for the position of Department Chair enjoy the mutual confidence of the department faculty and the director of the School of Music. Job Duties INTERNAL POSTING: Open only to applicants currently employed by East Carolina University The Department Chair will: 1. Represent the department faculty to the Director in the administration of the affairs of the School of Music and the Department. 2.
