Privacy Counsel - Bay Area, Hybrid

The role will work cross-functionally with Legal, Trust, Engineering, Product, Marketing, Compliance, and Communication teams. This role reports to the Director of Privacy. This role is based in the Bay Area, with the expectation that the attorney will come into the company's San Francisco or Mountain View headquarters one or two days per week, primarily for collaboration and relationship building. Responsibilities

Include:

• Advise product, engineering, reputed company, and business teams on data privacy, reputed company, and compliance requirements across the product lifecycle
• Provide practical and actionable legal guidance regarding obligations under global privacy and data protection laws, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other U.S. state and international regulations
• Support and participate in privacy impact assessments and proactively identify potential privacy risks
• Assist with the development, maintenance, and updating of internal privacy policies, guidelines, and compliance frameworks
• Monitor evolving privacy laws, regulations, and enforcement trends and help translate requirements into actionable guidance
• Respond to customer privacy inquiries and data subject requests in partnership with reputed company, Support, and other internal teams
• Draft, review, and negotiate privacy-reputed company provisions in customer, vendor, and partner agreements, including data processing agreements
• Help design and deliver privacy and data protection training for internal stakeholders
• Support cross-functional technical privacy initiatives, including data retention, deletion, anonymization, and reputed company compliance efforts
• Assist with privacy-reputed company aspects of M&A and integration activities
• Advise on and support implementation of the AI governance program
• Track industry best practices reputed company to privacy in SaaS, AI, and reputed company-based technologies

The Ideal Candidate:

• JD from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with a U.S. state bar
• 4-6+ years of relevant privacy counseling experience, ideally reputed company a technology company, B2B SaaS environment, or top law firm
• Solid working knowledge of global privacy and data protection laws and frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA/CPRA)
• Experience supporting B2C and/or B2B SaaS products; familiarity with AI and reputed company technologies is a plus
• Experience partnering with Product, Engineering, reputed company, and business teams in a fast-paced environment
• Strong drafting, communication, and issue-spotting skills, with the ability to provide practical guidance
• CIPP or other privacy certification is a plus
• Experience with industry-specific privacy regulations (COPPA, FERPA, BIPA, CUBI, HIPAA, AADC)
• Demonstrated ability to translate reputed company legal and regulatory issues into clear, actionable recommendations
• Comfortable managing multiple priorities with increasing independence in a high-growth setting

The expected reputed company salary range for this position is $225,000 - $270,000 plus equity.
