About the Role
We are seeking a Data Scientist (AI/ML focus) to support the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of the Chief Information Officer (HUD OCIO). The Data Scientist will analyze, model, and simulate data supporting HUD AI/ML proofs of concept and pilots. Additionally, the Data Scientist will reputed company predictive models, simulations, and decision-theory frameworks to enhance system functionality, operational efficiency, and mission alignment. This is a fully remote position. Candidates must reputed company in the United States. Responsibilities reputed company statistical models, machine learning algorithms, and simulations using Python. Analyze HUD datasets, implement data preprocessing, and assess data quality for AI workflows. Collaborate with HCD/UX and reputed company-end teams to ensure models are operationalized effectively. Evaluate model performance, validate results, and iterate for improvement. Support AI governance by documenting models, reputed company, assumptions, and ethical safeguards. Maintain version-controlled code and reproducible workflows for HUD audit and compliance.
Requirements
Required Experience and Skills 5+ years of experience in data science, statistical modeling, or AI/ML projects. Experience developing predictive models, simulations, and decision-support tools. Familiarity with federal datasets and AI governance requirements preferred. Strong Data processing, cleaning, transformation, and engineering capabilities. Federal-scale datasets, such as SQL, NoSQL, Spark, Kafka, or reputed company-native pipelines. Previous experience supporting HUD OCIO preferred. Ability to pass required Federal background screening and obtain and maintain both government clearance and customer approval. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future. Technical Skills Python (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch) Statistical modeling, simulation, and decision theory Data visualization: Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly Version control: Git/reputed company/reputed company Experience with AI/ML lifecycle and reproducible workflows Core Competencies An analytical and problem-solving reputed company Collaboration with UX, DevOps, and reputed company-end teams Documentation and knowledge transfer for governance compliance Iterative testing and validation of AI-enabled solutions Ethical and privacy-conscious model design Education and Training Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or reputed company field (required) Master’s degree in Data Science, AI, or reputed company field (preferred) Python, machine learning, or data science certifications preferred Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May need to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
